Help Yourself & Others by Participating in the 2010 Census

If you’re like me your overwhelmed with telephone solicitors, junk postal mail and email on a regular basis. Yes, it’s tiring but I have good news for you. There is something arriving in your mailbox that is extremely important for the community in which you live and it’s not junk mail. It’s the 2010 Census packet. So when it arrives in your mail box don’t throw it away. This time you will want to open it up and complete the quick 10-easy answer questions. Why? It’s simple because bottom line your community has the opportunity of receiving much needed federal funds. Here’s a recent article I read to help you become better informed:

“The last time McKinney’s population was counted in a decennial census, we had a population of 54,000 residents. With a population of more than 126,000 today, it is especially crucial for McKinney citizens to fill out and return the census form,” said McKinney Mayor Brian Loughmiller. “The census count determines consideration for various grant opportunities available to urban areas based on population. Federal grants that are important for infrastructure, energy efficiency and other programs are available at different levels for cities that are less than 100,000 as opposed to cities of McKinney’s size. An accurate census count will ensure that McKinney is considered in the proper category when applying for federal funds for necessary projects.” Read entire article

Okay, for those folks still not to sure. Let me ask you this. Can you count to ten? Well it’s that simple in answering the questions. Still don’t believe me then preview the questions and see for yourself. It’s really that easy. And if you’ve already discarded your packet then stop by our offices to pick up another one. We’re a host site in which anyone can come and complete the form and place in a 2010 Census box.
